Electromagnetic Processes in Doubly-Nonlinear Composites

چکیده

Electromagnetic processes in inhomogeneous conductors are here described by coupling the Maxwell equations with nonlinear constitutive relations of the form B = B H x and J = J E H x , neglecting hysteresis and displacement currents. The latter equality may also account for the Hall effect. A doubly-nonlinear parabolic-hyperbolic equation is formulated, and existence of a solution is proved via approximation by time-discretization, derivation of a priori estimates, and passage to the limit via compensated compactness and compactness by strict convexity. It is then assumed that the medium is a composite that exhibits periodic oscillations in space. Convergence to a corresponding homogenized two-scale problem is proved as the oscillation period vanishes, via Nguetseng’s notion of twoscale convergence. Finally this two-scale formulation is proved to be equivalent to a coarse-scale problem.

Electromagnetic Field Fluctuations and Optical Nonlinearities in Metal-dielectric Composites

A scaling theory of local "eld #uctuations and optical nonlinearities is developed for random metaldielectric composites near a percolation threshold. The theory predicts that in the optical and infrared spectral ranges the local "elds are very inhomogeneous and consist of sharp peaks representing localized surface plasmons (s.p.). The localization maps the Anderson localization problem describ...

Analysis of Electromagnetic Characteristic of a Novel Doubly Salient Brushless Generator

To develop a fault tolerant machine with the least redundant phases, the inductance model and a nonlinear radial air gap flux density model of a new four-phase doubly salient electromagnetic generator (DSEG) is presented and verified by the finite element analysis (FEA) and experiments result in this paper. With the proposed formulas, a new four-phase 24-slot 18-pole DSEG without cogging torque...

Effect of carbon black content on the microwave absorbing properties of CB/epoxy composites

To prevent serious electromagnetic interference, a single-layer and double layer wave-absorbing coating employing complex absorbents composed of carbon black with epoxy resin as matrix was prepared. The morphologies of carbon black /epoxy composites were characterized by scanning electron microscope  and atomic force microscope, respectively. The carbon black  particles exhibit obvious polyarom...

Active Control of Multiferroic Composite Shells Using 1-3 Piezoelectric Composites

This article deals with the analysis of active constrained layer damping (ACLD) of smart multiferroic or magnetoelectro-elastic doubly curved shells. The kinematics of deformations of the multiferroic doubly curved shell is described by a layer-wise shear deformation theory. A three-dimensional finite element model of multiferroic shells has been developed taking into account the electro-elasti...
